We are looking for a Battery Designer with experience in the design of lithium-ion battery systems, who want to work with us in Teverola, Caserta, Italy.
We are looking for a dynamic, passionate, purpose-drive professional who wants to help us in the deployment of one of the most important projects in Europe.
Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Design and Development
- Lead the design process of lithium-ion battery systems, considering factors such as energy density, power density, safety, and reliability in compliance with applicable industry standards.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand project requirements and translate them into battery specifications.
- Utilize CAD tools and simulation software for battery pack design and optimization, preferably using SolidWorks.
- Evaluate and select appropriate lithium-ion cell technologies based on performance requirements and cost considerations.
- Conduct thorough testing and performance analysis of cells, including capacity, cycle life, and thermal characteristics.
- Conduct simulations using software tools such as Matlab, Simulink, Comsol, etc.
- Collaborate with materials scientists to select and optimize electrode materials, electrolytes, and other components to enhance battery performance.
- Stay updated on emerging technologies and materials to drive innovation in lithium-ion battery design.
Safety and Compliance
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations related to lithium-ion batteries.
- Implement safety features and mechanisms to mitigate risks associated with battery operation, charging, and discharging.
Prototyping and Testing
- Oversee the development of battery prototypes, coordinating testing and validation processes.
- Analyze test data to identify areas for improvement and refine designs accordingly.
- Collaborate with suppliers to source cost-effective yet high-quality materials and components.
Documentation and Reporting
- Maintain detailed documentation of designs, test results, and iterations.
- Provide regular progress reports to project stakeholders and management.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electronics, or a related field
- Proven experience in the design of lithium-ion batteries, from conception to production.
- Proficiency in using CAD tools and simulation software for battery design.
- Strong knowledge of materials used in battery construction and their properties.
- Familiarity with industry standards and safety regulations related to lithium-ion batteries.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Proficiency in the English language.
Preferred Skills
- Experience in designing Battery Management Systems (BMS).
- 3D CAD design experience.
- Electrical skills in power chains: DC-DC, Inverters, Electrical panels.
- Expertise in testing electrical systems.
- Familiarity with production processes related to lithium-ion battery construction.
