The foundation stone ceremony officially marked the start of construction of the new industrial hub in Brindisi dedicated to the production of lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), developed by Eni Storage Systems, the company jointly owned by Eni Industrial Evolution and FIB – Seri Industrial Group.
The new facility represents a key element of the integrated Teverola–Brindisi manufacturing platform, where the two production sites will operate in synergy to manufacture LFP battery cells, modules, battery packs and energy storage systems for Utility Scale and Commercial & Industrial applications.
The industrial plan targets a combined production capacity of 16 GWh per year by 2030, equally shared between Brindisi and Teverola. In addition to battery cell and module production, the Brindisi site will assemble BESS solutions and, in a second phase, will also host LFP cathode active material production and battery recycling activities serving the entire manufacturing platform.
The initiative represents an important step forward in the industrial journey of FAAM, leveraging decades of manufacturing expertise, technological know-how and industrial capabilities to contribute to the development of Europe's energy storage value chain and support the energy transition.
